This weekend Faine and I drove out to the Medfield State Hospital, a defunct mental hospital in Medfield, Massachusetts. The grounds are open to the public, and it is outside of Boston’s Class B airspace. Faine recently picked up a DJI Phantom 3 and a the folks at Drone Deploy were kind enough to give us access to the application for testing.
This map is generated with orthorectified imagery by Drone Deploy. In all the process of collecting the photographs took about 7 minutes. It has a ground sample distance1 of 3.2 cm and covers about 12.2 hectares of land:
