I came up with this drink during the first Christmas of the pandemic. We were pretty bored and isolated then, so we perhaps indulged more than we should have. This tends on the sweeter side if you use a sweeter rum, which is the optimal configuration.1

Ingredients

  • \(2\) oz. Dark rum
  • \(1\) oz. Frangelico
  • \(\frac{1}{2}\) oz. Cointreau
  • \(1\) dash of black walnut bitters

Directions

Mix ingredients together with ice. Stir vigorously. Strain into a coupe glass and garnish with an orange peel.

Variation

For a sweeter and more intense chocolate flavor, substitute creme de cacao for half of the Frangelico.

  • \(2\) oz. Dark rum
  • \(\frac{1}{2}\) oz. Frangelico
  • \(\frac{1}{2}\) oz. Creme de Cacao
  • \(\frac{1}{2}\) oz. Cointreau
  • \(1\) dash of black walnut bitters

Footnotes

  1. Ed. Note: I recommend a rum slightly on the sweeter side, such as a Pyrat.↩︎
